Ambiance Congo: July 12, 2015

Welcome to Ambiance Congo radio program!
We have heard a lot of newer music lately, so today we go back to the older music from the golden eras of Congolese music. We have OK Jazz, Theo Blaise, Orchestre Sinza, Docteur Nico and Shama Shama along with some wonderful rare groups such as Orchestre Sossa and Bwambe Bwambe.
I hope that you enjoy this music as much as I do.

  1. Any show featuring some "Outer Limits" synth is the business as far as I'm concerned, so the deranged electronics on the Shama Shama track really hit the target for me. Superb and thanks.

Have you listened to any of "Nostalgie Ya Mboka" yet? I never heard of it 'til Dave P recommended it during your show, which is weird since it's a (very) long-running London show by the sound of it. I've delved into some of the archived shows and they're great, albeit too short at only an hour. Still, Vincent Luttman certainly knows his onions so at least it's an hour's education in Congolese music, which is priceless.

Did you know Ballou Canta has a new CD out called Boboto? Not noisy enough for my liking but it might be someone's up of tea.
